Blum Construction has been selected as the Construction Manager at Risk by Transylvania County Schools and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade contractors to submit bids for furnishing labor, materials, equipment and tools for Phase 2 of the overall Transylvania County Schools Renovation Project.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Phase 2 is to include significant renovations to as many as nine separate schools and district buildings within Transylvania County. Areas of work to include site and utility improvements, façade repairs and refinishing, roof replacements, structural repairs, extensive mechanical equipment replacement and associated controls work, replacement of aging electrical panels and switchgear, and construction of new secured lobbies. Work is scheduled to be phased across the various campuses and buildings, with an overall start in October 2026, and a scheduled completion in the summer of 2028.
Please note that this prequalification window is for all remaining work associated with this project. Due to the size, complexity, phasing, and schedule of the work, scopes may be bid as initial packages, with the possibility for additional schools to be added after awarding. Staffing and financial capacity for this project will be critical and will become a part of the bid evaluation process. Refer below for estimated budget ranges. Additionally, due to the magnitude, certain scopes of work may be bid as multiple packages (e.g., by school or groupings of schools) and may be awarded to separate contractors based on prequalification, bid evaluation criteria, and Owner and CM discretion. The Owner and Construction Manager reserve the right to bid additional scopes of work (e.g., additional schools or groupings of schools) of the overall project at a later date. Eligible bidders for potential future bids will be based on prequalification applications submitted during this window.
